Gardner also deserves credit for making the wilderness feel incredibly real. This isn’t glamorous camping filled with scenic sunsets and Instagram-worthy campfires. Yet somehow Gardner makes every painful step worth taking. Once the search gains momentum, putting the book down becomes nearly impossible. The mystery unfolds at just the right pace, balancing emotional character development with growing suspense until the final pages.
