Charlie, Molly, and the mysterious Ignatius Oliver make an unlikely trio, yet Baldacci threads them together so seamlessly you forget they shouldn’t even know each other. The devastation of wartime London is brutal, but the moments of kindness and humanity sneak up on you in the best way. It’s gripping, emotional, and absolutely worth the read.
